ABOUT US

Our site-specific designs are grounded in sustainable principles, from orientation and siting to assist with passive solar design, considered material selection, and efficient planning to reduce waste and excess. This holistic approach means your building will perform well thermally, is tailored to your needs, and sit easily in its landscape.

We seek early input from builders to ensure budgets and timelines are realistic, aligning design briefs and construction budgets to ensure projects are realised. This collaborative approach contributes to our high strike-rate of getting projects built.

We have designed buildings using a variety of materials including traditional lightweight timber frames, masonry and precast concrete, as well as strawbale and hempcrete. We select suitable, cost-effective materials with an appreciation of how a project will be built.

WHAT WE DO

We embrace Tasmania’s environment and understand how to work with it. Each project reflects the unique characteristics of its site and the people who will use it. Our experience and local knowledge allow us to produce designs that belong, enhancing the environment and community around them. Our design ethos centres on the following:
  • Celebrate the connection to place: site, landscape, and climate.
  • Incorporate passive solar design principles and sustainable practices.
  • Create humble but comfortable spaces with a focus on thermal performance.
  • Select materials to be durable, economical, and beautiful.
  • Understand buildability – how a project will be built.
  • Design for people, with people in mind. And dogs.
  • Collaborate with our clients, consultants and builders – and value their input.
  • We ask questions, and we listen.
