about us

ABOUT US
We seek early input from builders to ensure budgets are realistic, aligning design briefs and construction budgets to enable projects to be realised. This collaborative approach has contributed to our high strike rate of getting projects built.
AKA have designed buildings using a variety of materials including traditional lightweight timber frames, masonry and precast concrete as well as strawbale and hempcrete. Materials are selected to be durable, economical and beautiful.

WHAT WE OFFER
- Initial site visits and advice
- Feasibility studies and master planning
- Concepts and design development
- 3D modeling and visualisations, including solar analysis
- Preparation of drawings suitable for Planning assessment by Council
- Construction documentation and specification for Building approval and quoting
- Coordination with consultants, Councils and builders
- Administering building contracts and ongoing assistance

WHAT WE DO
- Celebrate the connection to place: site, landscape, and climate.
- Incorporate passive solar design principles and sustainable practices.
- Create humble but comfortable spaces with a focus on thermal performance.
- Select materials to be durable, economical, and beautiful.
- Design for people, with people in mind. And dogs.
