PROJECTS

AKA architects have successfully delivered a diverse range of projects across Tasmania. Reflecting a solid understanding of urban and regional contexts, our designs are site-specific and respond to the nuances of each location.

Our portfolio covers a range of building types including residential, commercial, community and sports projects.

Commencing with the successful delivery of the Woodbridge Community Sports Facility in 2012, AKA has established itself as a leading design firm in both the professional and community sports sectors in Tasmania.

We have a particular interest in providing comfortable and functional facilities for players, spectators and volunteers. We also ensure that precinct design integrates with both the natural and urban landscape to enhance public amenity.

As the cost of building continues to rise, we believe that multi-generational housing will become more common. We have already completed several ancillary units (self-contained ‘granny flats’ or ‘humble houses’ less than 60m2) as well as larger homes for extended families.

We believe that ‘building more’ is not always the answer – renovating and adapting existing buildings and infrastructure is often more sustainable and affordable. Reorganising existing space to function more efficiently can be an economical and practical alternative to increasing the floor area of a building.
