PROJECTS

AKA delivers projects right across Tasmania, from urban settings in and around Hobart, to suburban development and rural landscapes. All of our designs are site-specific and respond to the nuances of the location.

We have worked on a range of building types including residential, commercial and community projects. We have a particular interest in designing comfortable and functional community sports projects that provide light and warm change rooms and welcoming facilities for spectators and volunteers.

As the cost of building continues to rise, we believe that multi-generational housing will become more common. We have already completed several ancillary units (self-contained ‘granny flats’ or ‘humble houses’ less than 60m2) as well as larger homes for extended families.

We believe that ‘building more’ is not always the answer – renovating and adapting existing buildings and infrastructure is often more sustainable and affordable. Reorganising existing space to function more efficiently can be an economical and practical alternative to increasing the floor area of a building.
